Joseph Mallord William Turner

Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851) was an English Romanticist painter. However, his work can also be considered a preface to impressionism. His works evolved from realistic to impressionistic depictions characterised by a chromatic palette and broadly applied atmospheric washes of paint. A synergy exists between his way of painting and themes such as shipwrecks, fires and natural disasters.
Among his works we can find one of my personal favourites entitled Snow Storm: Steam-boat off a Harbour’s Mouth (1842).
