Rupprecht Geiger

Rupprecht Geiger (1908-2009) was an autodidact abstract painter from Munich. He is most known for his abstract expressionist paintings which relate to the works of American Color Field painters such as Rothko. Geiger makes great use of harmony and gradations of lightness and darkness help colors become visible.

The following works were photographed at the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus in Munich.
